Small Block Ford rocker alignment guides frequently get damanged or bent during the disassembly process, especially if power tools were used.

Used engines with a lot of hard crusty buildup under the valve covers will increase the chances of bending them. When the rocker bolt is loosened, that crusty black build up between the bold and fulcrum can force the fulcrum to twist within the alignment guide which bends the side rails out of wack.

Once bent, they're difficult to straighten and they will continue to bend easier than new ones so don’t waste too much time trying to fix the old ones. Once bent, they're never the same.

1979 on SBF engines use these rocker alignment guides, they are responsible to retain rocker alignment on the valve tips.

The rocker fulcrum fits right into the alignment guide. During assembly, it's wise to lubricate the bolt and carfully tighten/torque by hand, not with air tools.

We get these from an OE supplier so their thickness, shape and fit is excellent.

Since most aftermarket roller rockers don’t come with new alignment guides, it's important to have a new, tight fitting set as roller rockers are less tolerant of rocker misalignment than stock rockers.

Don’t wait until the last minute or you might have to get these from the dealer as they are not usually available at the local parts house.
