Sometime in early 2016, we expect to release several new High Performance drop in valve spring kits for SB Ford GT40 and GT40P iron heads.

A New Max Output II valve spring kit w/ 130 Lbs seat and 370 Lbs open @ .600" lift.

A New Ovate Wire Beehive valve spring kit w/ 135/140 Lbs seat and 365/370 Lbs open @ .600" lift.

Number one will use a brand new proprietary Max Output II spring with 130 Lbs seat pressure and more open then previously available from us in a drop in style spring. Open will be around 330 Lbs @ .500" lift, 350 Lbs @ .550" lift and 370 Lbs @ .600" lift. The beauty of these new kits is they will handle much bigger cams than ever before. These pressures can be used with most hyd roller cams w/ up to 250 degrees duration @ .050" and up to .600" lift.

Number two is a brand new proprietary High Output drop in Beehive spring kit! This kit will belong to our Max Output II family and will sport high seat and open pressures as well as accept up to .600" lift. Seat pressures will be in the 135/140 Lb range and open pressures will be in the 365/370 Lb range @ .600" lift. This kit will handle many of the bigger Hyd Roller grinds and well as mechanical flat tappet cams. As with our other drop in kits, the beehive will also fit onto the stock spring base without the need for machine work. The new beehives will be specially manufactured using ovate wire to take advantage of modern spring technologies.

Both new kits will offer more mid to top in power using moderate to large cams and will also function well for smaller profiles in many applications including, naturally aspirated carburetor and fuel injection, turbo, supercharged and nitrous applications.

We won't know what the final pricing will be until all the parts become available but aim to offer kit # 1 for around $147.50 and # 2 for $219.50 Both kits will come with: Springs, Retainers and Locks to suit .393"/.481" staggered tip length valves as well as .393"/.393" configurations.

Questions are welcome.

We're pretty excited about this- We're seriously thinking of having special length pushrods manufactured specifically for 302 engines w/ hyd roller cams.

As many of you know, when changing cams, many times the engine will need to be fitted with longer than stock pushrods. This is mainly the result of a reduced base circle diameter used on many aftermarket performance cams.

There are several other factors which will affect the final required pushrod length so there is no magic -one size fits all- pushrod length, each engine will be a little different.

Last year, we made some +.065" pushrods and they were very popular, in fact we sold out but we still had customers asking for slightly shorter and longer lengths.

Based on the various requests from the SB Ford building community, we've noted the following lengths would be a great range of intermediate lengths to carry.

6.305" (+.055")

6.320" (+.070")

The pushrods will have increased wall thickness for added strength, have welded ends, black oxide and will be Heat Treated for increased column rigidity and guide plate compatibility.

To assure quality, we'd use a manufacturer located here in the US.

The goal is to offer them for under $50.00/set which will be the lowest price going for special length SBF pushrods anywhere.

This will be an Alex's Parts exclusive and will only be available from Alexsparts.com

If you like the idea of having access to these lengths, please let us know. Simply use the contact us link and send us a note. We have invest a chuck of money to do this so we'd like to know we have your support.

Thank you, Alex

We've been working on several new valve spring kits for our GT40 and GT40P customers. The new kits are focused on applications where more seat and open pressures are required.

Applications such as:

Long Duration Cams- up to 258 degrees @ .050"

Aggressive Lobe Profiles

High Boost Turbo and Supercharger engines

Nitrous engines w/ big cams

The problem in the past has always been the need to have the heads machined to accept dual springs. We have been testing several high output drop in springs with killer results. That's right, this spring fits the heads without machine work making them a drop in fit.

We have not officially released them yet but it they're coming soon. These two new kits can be installed to produce 130 to 150 Lbs seat pressure and will make between 375-435 Lbs open pressure. (depending on final lift)

The unofficial part number will be: VSK7A-M49X and VSK7A-M48X

These will be the highest output drop in springs available for this application and will be an Alex's Parts exclusive. The final price is yet to be determined but as with all our parts, we are committed to offer the highest quality with the lowest prices and this kit will be priced very well.

If you have any questions, use the "contact Alex's Parts" tab at the top of the page.

Effective March 31st 2014- We have upgraded the valve seal design for GT40 and GT40P heads. When a customer adds valve seals to a spring kit, they will receive the best Viton valve seals available for GT40 & GT40P castings.

Although there was nothing wrong with the previously offered viton valve seals, we felt it would be better to supply them in the OE design which is a special fixed body seal with a ribbed ID.

The ribbed ID improves the ease of installation and it also seals better between the seal and guide. The seal is just the right size so they can be pushed on by hand. Just use a little oil to lube the guide and seals before installation.

The OE seal is specific to SB Ford, when properly installed it goes on and bottoms out at the base of the guide.

Ford engineered these seals for their 302/351W small block engines with a .558"-.563" guide diameter.

Starting March 31st, 2014, we will supply this new seal version to everyone check the "add viton seals" to their valve spring kit order.

The part number for the new OE viton seal design is: VSS-288

More good news- Alex's Parts now supplies one free plastic valve seal protector sleeve with most of our seal sets.

Use the sleeve to slip over the end of the valve to assure the seal slides over the groove without damage to the seal.

Thanks for using Alex's Parts!

We've taken extra steps to improve the quality and value of our valve seal offerings. Effective March 31st 2014, most of our positive valve seals made from viton will include one free valve seal protector sleeve. Back in the day, valve seals protector sleeves were required to safely install teflon valve seals so each set would come with one or two sleeves. As viton seals earned greater popularity over teflon, protector sleeves were no longer required, viton seals could be carefully installed without damage to the seal where as teflon could not. The result was a lack of supply of protector sleeves. Over time, they became impossible to get. We have managed to connect with a manufacturer who makes these for gasket companies and have added them in various sizes to our site.

Available in the following sizes:

5mm

6mm

7mm

8mm

5/16"

11/32" 3/8"

Here at Alex's Parts, were constantly working on ways to improve the quality and value of our parts line. This announcement is specific to the SB Ford crowd running GT40 and GT40P heads.

These OE castings have become very popular with an ever increasing number of people are using them with various combinations of cams and rocker ratios.

Those who are familiar with our valve spring kits, (VSK) know we already have good coverage for these engines.

We've noticed an increase of customers interested in upgrading their valve springs for use with high ratio rockers while retaining the stock cam.

There are also a lot of performance enthusiasts who want to improve mid to upper RPM range using their existing stock cam and rocker ratios.

Some customers want to use GT40P heads on older 302/351W blocks with "flat tappet" cams.

With these people in mind, we have created several new spring kits which cater to low lift applications better than using a high lift spring kit for a low lift application.

Seat and open pressures were increased by around 25%

Stock springs put out around 75-80 Lbs seat pressure at best when new. Our VSK7A48-Z and VSK7A49-Z kits both offer around 25% more pressure than stock.

The best part is the Z kits are priced lower than any of the GT40 or GT40P kits, good new indeed!

We're also adding two more low lift spring kits, the "M" series kits. VSK7A48-M and VSK7A49-M offer a tad more seat pressure @ 105Lbs but a lot more open pressure @ 335+Lbs open which is 65% more open pressure. The M kits crank out some serious open pressure at low lift.

The "Z" kits are for street hot rod applications while the "M" kits are more fitted for .480" lift engines which will be run really hard. Also for applications which are turbo-charged, supercharged and/or for race applications.

When replacing stock springs with either our Z or M GT40 or GT40P kits, expect to gain improved idle quality as well as improved mid to top end RPM.

As with all our valve spring kits, we're committed to offer the best value available on the net.

Just like our popular .560", .580" and .600" lift spring kits, the Z & M kits employ 7 degree chrome moly retainers and hardened locks and can all be fitted without the need to machine the spring base. Just verify the installed heights, add shims as needed and assemble.

These four new kits are scheduled to become available in early March.

Best regards, Alex~
